By filing a police report this will entitle you to certain legal rights. It till also prevent the debts from appearing on your credit report. Reporting that your identity was stolen can prevent a company from trying to collect the debts or selling them to a collection agencies. You should also file a credit bureau fraud alert, which indicates on your credit reports that your identity has been stolen.
